PRAYER, what a wonderful tool God has given to man! The bible illustrates that prayer is the vehicle that enables mankind to communicate with the Almighty God of the universe. Prayer positions the believer for intimacy with God. Prayer is a form of offering to God (Acts 10:4). Prayer is a sacrifice (Heb. 13:15). The believer’s prayers are favored by God (1 John 5:14).
Prayer is the vehicle by which the believer obtains access into the spirit realm enabling him/her to exercise spiritual authority and power on a level playing field with their spiritual adversaries.

Prayer should be an EXPERIENCE. Therefore, the reason we pray is to “Experience God.” If all you do in prayer is tell God about your problems, you have just short changed yourself in the worst possible way. If you ever wanted to encounter the one true God of this universe, I DARE YOU to worship him through the vehicle of prayer. You see, it is in prayer that we approach God (face to face) to once again celebrate the love we share with our sovereign Father, a loving Savior and King (Jesus) and a Holy Spirit. Through every aspect of his being we experience a special and unique expression of his love that is not only worth celebrating but also worth being humbly grateful for, with respect and honor.
When we enter into prayer the communion you have is called WORSHIP. If you love someone you want to be in there presence…often. You enjoy there company even when no one is speaking. You talk together, learn and grow together, sing together, dance together, laugh together and even cry together as each experience reflects the life you share from day to day. It is the same with Jesus and you can know his love in a real and very personal way through the Holy Spirit.
So how do you worship? The same way you plan a date and then simply show up! Like any date, when you try too hard it becomes awkward and you feel silly. I encourage you to just be yourself with a heart that really wants to know this incredible person better and who is “head over hills” about you! As you approach God through prayer consider these suggestion in your experience.
1. Praying in the Spirit (tongues)
2. Have a spirit of Thankfulness
3. Have an attitude submitted to repentance (from rebellion, apathy, disobedience and arrogance toward God)
4. TALK, be honest and open in sharing how you think and feel, what you want to understand about him or don’t understand, what you like or don’t like, what you realize and adore about him.
5. Play your favorite worship music (it often speaks the words you can’t express)
6. Express yourself in dancing, singing your own song, writing, laughing, drawing, shouting, marching, kneeling, laying down, clapping – however you feel led or inspired, whatever you see or hear in the spirit or from the Holy Spirit…who’s going to know…its just you and God :))
7. Searching God’s Word – Do this preferably last or during (as you are led by the Spirit of God) to affirm and validate what was revealed, what you heard and saw during your worship experience.
What is most wonderful about worship is that, if it is real and genuine quality time, it will never be the same experience each time you get together. That’s what REAL relationships are made of and it gets better with time.
Another Discipleship Basic!
